Aftercare Advice


Manicures and Pedicures

Apply a cuticle oil or cream and moisturize daily to help keep healthy skin and nails.

​Ensure you dry your hands and feet really well after getting them wet to prevent the growth of fungus.

​Never pick at your nails properly clip them or file them as needed.

Gel Polish, Poly gel, Dips and Nail Extensions

The first 24-48 hours are crucial that lifting or chipping does not occur so please follow the advice below during the 24-48 hour period and there after to get the best possible lasting results.

​If irritation or reaction of any kind occurs then please contact The Little Day Spa (705-351-3772) or your family doctor immediately.

​Baths, showers, hair washing, tanning beds and saunas within the first 24 hours can lead to lifting. Try and be gentle with these tasks even after the 24 hour mark to avoid lifting or fading.

​Wearing gloves when washing dishes, house keeping and gardening will protect your hands and nail enhancements from harsh chemicals.

​Never use your nails as tools! Picking at stuff, for example tape can ruin your nails. Using something such as a credit card to help to lift an end of something really stuck down can ensure the longevity of your nails.

​Ensure you always have gel polish, poly gel and Nail extensions professionally removed. Never pick or peel them off yourself as this will cause damage to your natural nails such as thinning, breakage and hangnails.

​If any lifting does occur please do not pick at them or attempt to fix it yourself. Please contact The Little Day Spa where we will be able to advise you further.

Make sure you dry your hands thoroughly after washing them.

​By applying a cuticle oil or cream to your cuticle daily will result in healthy nails.

​Avoid using product on the hands containing Lanolin as this will cause lifting and peeling.

​Always wash your hands throughly after applying sunscreen, self tanner, body lotion, and hair colouring products as this can cause lifting and colour distortion.

Waxing Aftercare

Please note: A small amount of soreness and redness can occur after waxing, especially if it is your first wax. Symptoms will naturally subside over the next 24-48 hours. If you experience persistent redness or irritation, apply a cold compress. If it does not improve please do not hesitate to contact The Little Day Spa and/or contact your GP immediately.

For the first 24 – 48 hours after the treatment, please keep the waxed area clean and avoid heat and friction

No hot baths, showers or saunas  or 24-48hrs.​Do not exfoliate 24-48 hours after your treatment or within 24 hours prior to your treatment.

No use of swimming pools, hot tubs, massage or steam treatments for 24-48hrs.

No tanning (sunbathing, sun beds, spray tanning or self tanning lotion) for 24-48hrs.

No sport, gym or other exercise for 24 hrs.

Avoid scratching or touching the treated area with unwashed hands.

Wear clean, loose fitting clothes for the first 24 hours.

Do not apply deodorants, body sprays, powders, lotions, makeup or other products other than those recommended by your aesthetician.

After 24-48 hours:
Apply a moisturizer every day to keep the skin supple and to help keep new hairs growing normally.

Exfoliate 1-2 times per week.

You may notice a small amount of re growth after a week or so. It can take up to 4 treatments for your hair to get on a growth cycle that gives the best results.

To maintain a smooth appearance, regular waxing is recommended every 4-6 weeks.

Facials Aftercare

Avoid putting on makeup or other facial products for at least 12 hours after your treatment.

Avoid picking at your skin or use abrasive skincare products like scrubs for at least 72 hours after your treatment.

Stay away from direct heat for up to 48 hours after your treatment. This includes sunbeds, saunas, hot tubs, hot springs, suntanning, and hot showers.

Stay away from direct sun for at least 12 hours. Always wear sunscreen

Only go for one facial or skincare treatment at a time.

Allow 24-48 hours before having any other face treatment.

Refrain from smoking or drinking alcohol for up to 72 hours after your treatment.

The smoke from cigarettes contain particles that can clog your pores, and after a facial treatment your facial pores are almost always larger and can easily trap smoke particles. This can worsen your skin condition even if you have just had a treatment.

Similarly, alcohol contains compounds that can affect your skin and increase the aging process. Stay clear of harmful substances after a facial treatment and the benefits of your facial will last longer.

Continue your skincare routine: cleanse, tone and moisturize.

Don’t sleep with makeup on.

Regularly hydrate yourself with 6 to 8 glasses of water per day.

Maintain a healthy and balanced diet.

Change your pillow case

​Sanitize your cell phone.

Lash Lifting and Tinting/ Brow Tinting and Lamination

The first 24-48 hours are crucial to ensure that you get the best possible result.

Water should not come into contact with your eyelashes or brows for at least 24 hours. Keep them as dry as possible.

Do not sunbathe, steam your face, use a steam bath, swim or wash your face with hot water for at least 48 hours.

Allow 24 hours before applying any type of product to your lashes or brows. After 24 hours, you may apply regular mascara, eyeliner, eye shadow, or any type of makeup products you desire; it should not affect the lash lift/tint or brow tint/lam.

Avoid using oil based cleanser and waterproof mascara as these may fade the tint faster.

Do not use an eyelash curler (after lift treatment) 

Do not rub lashes or brows when washing your face – always pat dry after cleansing, showering and bathing.

Do not pull on your eyelashes or eyebrows.

Do not undergo any other lash or brow treatments for the next 4-6 weeks, this includes lash extensions.

Use eye creams sparingly and avoid the lash/lid and brow area.

It is recommended to using a conditioning lash or brow serum daily to help nourish and condition the lashes,
this is available for purchase.

​Please use the brush provided from the treatment to gently brush through your lashes and brows at least once a day, preferably after sleeping as this will help them to sit straight and keep their lift/lam.
It is recommended doing this after washing your face and showering/bathing.

​Avoid touching the area treated.

​Avoid heat treatments for at least 24 hours.

​Do not put your contact lenses back in for the rest of the day.

​Avoid strong UV light as this can cause the tint to fade quicker.

Teeth Whitening

For the first 24 hours after treatment your teeth may be prone to staining more than normal.

​Do not drink coffee or tea for 24hrs.

​Avoid dark coloured soda, red wine, curry, beetroot and any other food or drink that would stain teeth for 24 hours.

​Do not undergo any oral surgery or extractions within 30 days.

Makeup After Care

The first 24-48 hours are crucial to maintain the results of your makeup and skin.

If any soreness, severe itchiness or swelling occurs please remove the makeup immediately using cool damp cotton wool and apply a cold compress if irritation persists. If irritation still persists after 24 hours please contact The Little Day Spa and/or your family doctor immediately.

Avoid the use of saunas, swimming pools and sun beds to prevent makeup from wearing.

Avoid touching the face to prevent wearing.

To retouch lipstick use a lip brush to keep the accuracy intact.

If areas of the face produce oil whilst wearing the makeup you can gently apply powder or bolt the skin using blotting papers.

Remember to always remove all makeup at the end of the day using an eye makeup remover, facial cleanser and toner.

An oil based eye makeup remover is recommended for easy removal of false strip eyelashes, mascara and eyeliner.
